i got the typical s13 hatch harness bar, thinking it might fit in between the verts large interior panels.... man was i wrong..
the bars main problem was how far back it went, and the angles it was intended for.. i already had the bar, so i busted out the saw and welder, and cut the ends of the bar down about 6' shorter, and re-welded at a bit more agressive angle... and now it mounts on the oem lower seatbelt bolt hole, and the top mounts to the thick metal door retainer bracket. overall it sits about an inch higher than the back of the s14 seat... i can still fully scoot my seat back, and recline it enough that i cant reach the steering wheel..
pictures were a little hard to get in the dark in my garage, but it is pretty easy to fit.. also kind of interesting that the bar is a 2.5' diameter and is schedule 40 steel... i was pretty happy about that!
this is whats sitting in the engine bay of the vert...
there is no doubt about how tough this bar is, im a really husky guy at over 6'0 300 lbs, i stood and jumped on it and had no flex or movement at all.. the only movement was the car rocking left to right.
I could definitely recommend this to anyone who doesn't want to eliminate their back seats, but wants to utilize harness's properly..

By Yokotas13 Overview: NOTE: RACING HARNESSES ARE NOT RECOMMENDED FOR STREET USE! SERIOUS INJURY COULD OCCUR IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT! Difficulty: ** Time: 1-2 hours Cost: harness + hardware (~$10) Tools: – socket wrenches and ratchet Materials: – harness – 2x eye bolts – 2x L brackets – C-clips for harness Procedure: Depending on your setup, you will need either two eyelet bolts, and two L brackets- If you have a 4 PT harness, with all 4 parts having the c clips on them Or simply two eye bolts- If your rear straps have the holes to be bolted in on them (not very common, most have the clips like the above on all 4 parts) eye bolts Ok.now the fun part: This is 240/Silvia specific only. Find some eye bolts that thread into the rear mounting bolts for the seat. There is one that his horizontal on the console side, and one that is vertical on the driver side. Replace the bolt with the eye bolt for your harness.
Make sure its tight please. Go ahead and clip in the lap belts there. For your shoulder straps – put them through your seat/in the middle of your headrest/racing seat holes.Whatever it is that you are putting it in, make sure when you put it through, you cross the harness straps. This is for safety reasons. Once they are crossed like this: Bolt them down to the seatbelt mounting points behind your seat using either an eyelet bolt, or simply bolting them down (depending on style). Now just so you know the reasoning behind the mounting points shown here: Those are the acceptable mounting angles for most competitive organizations.
Follow it, it’s there for a reason. Make sure everything is tight. If you’d like to discuss this article, or you have questions, here’s the place!
